Well This is a 86 GT T-Top I bought it today for $1250. She does not run and the engine has been replaced about three times. The one major problem I have with it right now is that the 302 that is in it came from an 85 or 86 Grand Marqui. It is a carbed 302. The only problem this poses is that I do not think Grand Marqui 302s were H.O. So am I bascially screwed engine wise? I am perfectly ok with swapping the motor for something different. So it is not that big of deal. I was thinking of getting a 351 block and doing a very mild build would the parts form my current 302 still transfer to the 351? If so that would be great the 302 in the Mustang only has about 2000 miles on it so it is really a new motor. Another question I am truly a begginer when it comes to modding cars so how hard would it be to do this 351 basically by myself I feel as long as I get enough support here on the forum I can do it what do you guys think? Another question do I get the car running in its current state then start modding it? The guy I bought from says the problem is that the electricity is not getting to the distributor. Exterior wise the front and rear fascias need replacing, but the body it self is in great shape. It is need of new paint. Interior is pretty thrashed and its porno red[:'(]. I plan on converitng it to all black anyway so some of the blemishes on the interior do not really matter. I know it was a bit expensive, but I could not pass up a four eye T-Top. thats a cool car, love the scoop, and if i were you, id invest ina crate motor, because by the time u get it allt he way u want, u woill come out even or with in a few hundred, i no u dont want to hear that but its the best way, i have a 85 gt t-top that i got for 600 bucks, no rust, 120k original miles on her, i love it, 5spd, welcome tot he four eyed pride t-top land!!!

 

I think crate motors are great where to go about acquiring one though?

 

pull up the carpet if you can, and check the floorboards, t-tops like to rot out on the floors.... due to the obvious....
