Default Failed Inspection

fu(ckin a...i finally got a stock h, brought in to the shop i go to, they inspect it..first of all he tells me it took them 4 or 5 runs to get the computer to get an RPM reading b/c of my igniton system (MSD)..then when they did, i failed because of nox...he said i didn't fail by much, but i did.

i have no smog pump, but he said that may not be it..he said it could also be the EGR Valve (they are going to check for me), the smog pump, bad timing (very unlikely), or a bad cat(possibility).

it's just one thing after another, i REALLY don't want to have to put a smog pump back on this thing..

no, it had sat there for a couple of days before they got to it, they are REALLY busy all the time at this shop...and i thought bumping timing decreased emissions?

yeah, i could, but i used to work at that place (its also a gas station) over the summer, and developed a great relationship with the two owners (brothers) so they do pretty much all the work on my car....i was hoping they would just pass it, but no such luck

maybe i'll get lucky and it will only be my EGR valve, and then it'll pass

So is the egr system working, Most of the time when it fails for nox it's due to the egr system.

Where do you live?

Well, that's the good thing (if there is one) about Md., the state runs the emissions testing. You go, wait in line, get it done then and there. No leaving the car for days.
