Default track times

for a while now ive been debating on what cams and intake manifold and crap that i should throw on to my stang. there was a post here and someone asked how they could run a certain time in the 1/4 mile, and then i realizedthat im somewhat an idiot abaout something. what can i do to my stang to make it run mid 12's to low 13's. it would have to be mods taht are street legal. also for tires i was thinking about getting the 17" 4 bolt rims that i can throw on about 265 275 tires, whats a good tire to get thats not to to expensive but will help me reach my goal. and also will my rear 245/65/16, fit on the front with out rubbing issues? thanks

245/65/16[sm=WTFsgign.gif]man get those wagon/donut holes off there...put some 245/50/16 or 255/50/16's on the rear and no the ones you mentioned will rub...just don't go lock to lock...as for 12's..you'll need exhaust , gears, h/c/i and a tune and any supporting mod for a 302 to run that

o wow i made a big mistake i have 245/50/16 on the rear wow my bad. ok will those fit on the front? now what kind of good but affortable tires can i throw on to the rear that will give me good traction. also arnt there other mods that help in the 1/4 that deals with the suspension that i can do that will bring my times lower.

ahhh okay that looks much better now.. for a sec I thought you had truck tires on there!!.....the 245/50/16's will work on the front but will rub on the inner well when going lock to lock so you won't be able to do such a tight radius anymore...as for suspension mods....upper and lower control arms ..subframes and good set of drag shocks and sticky tires ftw!!!

oo i have sub frames i for got to put that in my sig!! how do the upper and lower control arms help with traction of better times or ride quality? also what are some decent but non expensive struts that i could throw on the front, most that i have seen are 100 bucks each!!. and also if i put on drag shocks that most that i would want to do is the front only. my stang is also lowerd but i dont know by how much, how can i check this?? thanks

From what I understand, the stock rear spring/shock set up isn't too bad for launching off the line, but like you, I also need front drag struts (I havea pair of Moroso front drag springs). Lakewoods are the cheapest I've found @ $99 each, but I'm leaning towards the Strange 10 way adjustable strut ($119 each), so I can tune it for street driving when not at the track.

The stock upper and lower control arms are a channel design allowing deflection or flex and not allowing the chassis to transfer weight to the rear wheels. On a tight budget you can boxthe armsin yourself and put polyurethane bushings in them. It's some work but if I were you I would look at UPR's website and get some of their pro-street control arms andspend the extra and get Strange struts and shocks. It's well worth it.

so how big of a street slick do i need if i build my motor to about300hp at the crank i wanted to throw on like 275's and get some 17" pony rims but that gets expensive. so how big of a street slick do i need and i also want to be able to have the rear end a bit higher then the front to give it a sick lean, or does that decrease times?
