Default H/C/I combo question?

ive posted before about what id like to do with my H/C/I combo, 1993 Cobra upper and lower intake, and some GT 40 turbo swirl heads, with a E303 cam. but knopw i keep hearing the E303 cam is not that good for an automatic. basically my question is what heads and cam would work great with the Cobra intake (yes im dead set on the Cobra intake) as far as bolt right up without nothing the pistons? and would it give me around 300 HP?

well, whats "around 300"? like 270-300? 290-300? or what

obviously cobra(Gt40) heads work well w. that intake

but we dont know your budget? hell afr, tfs, holley, would all work good w. that intake, but again i dont know what you looking to spend

as for cam, yea ive HEARD that about the e cam too, but have no exp with that... maybe look into something else? call up comp/lunati/crane/crower/etc and tell them your set up and ask them, thats what their tech line is for, lol...

its an 88 i assume? is it SD? if so, good for you!... if it is, i can help you pick out a cam that will work for that, if not, then you have more options

2500... good we can deffinatly work with that

now a few questions

i know your set on that intake, thats fine, nothing wrong w. that at all

what kind of goals do you have? i know your saying 300hp... i assume rwhp? or do you have a 1/4 goal? and which is more important to you... to be able to say "i have XXX hp" ... or "i have a xx.xx sec car"

i guess to have a 300HP mustang is what i want, i do want to go to the track before and after the work is done. im not looking for a monster Mustang just one that i can get into it when i need to (for now). but im not sure if i can get 300 rwhp with what im doing i guess with the set up id be looking for 300 HP at the crank, but at the wheels would be great. i dont want to push this motor overboard as it has 66,000 original miles on it but when it goes im going with a stroker upgrade. are you in MD, if so where at?

ok well 300 crank is easy...gt40 heads, mild cam, and that cobra intake would get it, and can be done for under budget...

my set up i have 1200 into, and i bought thecomplete motor and added the cam(explorer motor)... so gt40 heads/gt40(same as cobra) intake, and my cam.... im shooting for ~270 rwhp... which is ABOUT 300 crank... i still need to dyno it.... thats just what im shooting for... and it will be untuned

with your budget you could get

alum heads- 1200
RRs-250
cam/springs-500
intake-400

thats prty damn close to your budget, and if you played your cards right you could hit 300 rwhp... then again, you have to remember suporting mods...maf/injectors... so maybe spend a little less on the heads or something

as for heads anything would be good for you, trickflow(they have some porting potential for later on), afr's, holleys, etc... edelbrock makes some nice outa the box heads...

the cam, well decide that after you get your heads decided... and some other things, like what rpm range your looking for, what kind of idle quality, and **** like that... honestly with the cam id look into a custom cam, their not THAT expensive and imo would be worth it... i dont have one right now, but thats becasue i dont plan on running gt40 heads for a long time either...

as for roller rockers, scorpion makes some nice ones that are nicely priced

as for 66k on it... **** that wouldnt stop me in the least... i sprayed a motor w. 95k on it... and the shortblock in the car now i have no idea how many miles are on it...

and yes im in maryland too... in cecil county, right by the de line

and used parts always help your budget... like the intake... heads if you find a good deal, and just have a machine shop do a quick once over on them
