RE: what would you pay...
If you are looking for a car to build just the way you want, then a few hundred would be worth it, but you are going to have to replace everything to get it in shape. If it has been sitting for 10 years then it would need a good tune up before you even try to start it. As long as everything is not rusted out then about $3k would get it in good shape as long as you do all the work yourself. There must have been something wrong with it for them to stop driving it after 9 years so I would say the tranny or even motor is shot. Good luck with it.

RE: what would you pay...
honestly, if you could get it for under 400 i would do it.you know 100% there is gonna be bad gas in it, moldy interior, ripped top(motor on the vert is proble out to)
so your looking at quite a bit of money to even get the interior/top in a good place. then you have the to replace battery, plugs all that stuff. your proble looking at 1-2 thousand just to get it in ok shape.. not to shaby if ya ask me

I'd saya few hundred is worth it. hell you'd make a few hundred just by selling the body panels and top frame...
look into it... but if she pulls some longwinded story about how it was her husbands car and its worth 5,000 dollars walk away....

1st: Jack it up on wheel stands or jack stands and get a GOOD look at the
bottom of the car. If it's got a lot of rust, probably best to walk away.
The rust can still be fixed but the car will be a BIG project.
If no rust. $500-800. A half decent body is worth $500-1000.
Friend of mine just sold his rolling chasis (no engine or trans.) for $2,000
If the lady balks at your offer, say look the thing doesnt even run.
I dont know if it needs a new engine or what and its 20 years old

so heres the deal as of now: i went up there this morning and right when i brought it up she kind of snapped back at me that it wasn't for sale. it was one of her kid's car and i guess she wants to hold on to it for some reason? anyways i left her my info and all that good stuff so maybe she'll realize that its just gonna rot sittin there and my garage would be a better home. for free. haha that would be dope but i guess i'll wait to find out.
