hey guys, just curious what are the consequences if you get cought with an off road h pipe in california? Ive heard meny different things such as just a fix it ticket to getting your car impounded. Thanks in advance

 

When was the last time you actually heard of a cop looking under someone's car to see if they have illegal exhaust? They'll only do that if they bust cars at a street race, or you REALLY **** off a cop who pulls you over. Smog people might get pissy about it though.

 

I have been cheacked out of my town to see if my exhaust was illegal but right know i have the stock h pipe on there.

and i wasnt pulled over for anything, the guy couldnt come up with an excuse. I asked him if there was a problem and he looked really confused for about 2 minutes then asked if my exhaust was stock and i said yes other than flowmasters and he checked and said my cats and mufflers must be gutted but i know their not my cars pritty quiet. would it even be worth it to swap i out? i have one that came with the car and its just sitting there.

 

THEY LOOK UNDER YOUR CAR! SOEM COPS EVEN KNOW YOUR SUPPOSE TO HAVE 4 CATS! Depending on the officer he can tow and/or give you a fix it ticket... i know this from friends and past experiences... get cats and hollow them out! so when they look under they see them.

 

Ya but i already have an off road h pipe, would it even be worth it to put it on?

 

I guess it depends if the cop wants to be a dick

 

idk man if you have been checked once sounds like your car is pinged now , i would take gearbanger's advice and hallow out the cats , that way at least it would look legal at the sight .smog must suck guys i live in a state wher they only had 3 counties where they did smog check and they have done away with that already .

 

someone from cali just posted that he got a ticket for an off road h pipe and dumps, but his was for being too loud...

 

I bet a cop couldn't see under your car if it was lowered by an inch or so.

 

But that's also illegal in some states...
