25th Anniversy Car Question
My Dad currently owns a 1990 Mustang Gt all original but it has no indicators that it is a 25 anni. car I thought it would say it somewhere on an emblem or the dash but his has nothing the 2nd owner was his wife's cousin car who didn't take care of it he picked it up for $1200 but it will crank and run it needs paint.int, and will soon need a motor im sure I've thought about buying it as a parts car would it be worth it? and is it a 25 anni. car?
The 89 was "technically" the 25th anniv. cars, but since the first stang was a 1964.5, they continued the 25th anniv. into mid year 1990. So if your car was produced after mid-April, it would not be considered a 25th anniv. car.
Thanks I'll find out I was kinda stumped and so was he thats the reason he bought it really but with the conditon its in he didn't really get jipped out of nothing my step dads has been in the mustang buisness for a while but he pretty much just works on the classics so thanks for the info
I thought I made it pretty clear in my first post, but Ill try to explain it again...
Mid-April 1964.5 The first Mustang rolled off the Assembly Line.
Therefore, the first year for the Mustang was 'considered' 1964.5-1965.5 = 1 year
So... When Ford celebrated the 25th anniversary, they had to compensate for that half of a year.
25 years from the beginning of production year 1964.5 would = 1989.5
25 years from the ending of the first year of production would be 1990.5
Therefore, if the car was produced prior tomid-April in 1989 it would not be considered a 25th anniversary edition. Same goes for if it was produced after mid-April in 1990.

I can add, so it was clear, although you still did not answer the question. Did '89s have the 25th emblem? I've only seen it in the '90 models myself. I would presume, on your method of adding, if there were any '89s built after April of '89 they should have the emblem.

"Of course, any true Mustang enthusiast knows that April 1989 marked the 25th anniversary of the Mustang. As a token commemoration of the Mustang’s 25th anniversary, Ford placed a small running horse emblem engraved with the words “25 Years” on the passenger side dash of all Mustangs manufactured from mid-April 1989 to mid-April 1990. This, of course, included Mustangs from both model years 1989 and 1990. Mustangs sold during this time period also had the same running horse emblem pictured in the background of the window sticker. After the end of the 1990 model year, the running horse emblem remained on the dash without the “25 Years” engraving at the bottom." - Mustanggt.org
