Default Tire Size for '94 Stang

I'm gonna try this post in the 5.0 section as well to see if I can get some responses...

Hey everyone,

So I finally decided to buy a set of rims and tires for my 94 5.0. I ended up getting the 17x9 Saleen replica rims and now I'm trying to decide on tires. I'd prefer to go with the 255/45/17 (instead of 255/40/17) because of the wider profile, but I'm concerned that the front tires may rub when turning. My car is also lowered using the Eibach Pro Kit (1.4" in front and 1.5" in rear).

Has anyone had any experience putting 255s on their 94-98 Stang? If so, what size profile and rim?

Oh, and the rims I bought have a +24mm offset.

Thanks!

Ive got 255/45 on my 94 gt, with 99 gt wheels, 8 in wide. I think they are the best tire ive had on these wheels. Ive had a couple different sizes but i like this size the best. no rub but i dont have the lowering kit, i have the eibach drag launch kit

Yeah, the guy at Tire Rack said that without the car lowered, I could do a 275/40/17 all the way around... but that won't work now. I'm sure I could do 255/40/17 with it lowered but I don't like the thin profile.

Anyone else have experience or advice?

255/45/17 would be absolutely fine. I'm running that size on my stock wheels with no problems. Personally with 255s, I'd stick with the 45 series. 275/40s are almost the exact same height as 255/45s.

Even with the car lowered it should be fine with 255/45/17? It's about 1.1" wider in diameter than my current 225/50/16 up front.

All I'm concerned about is the rubbing...
