Default First Fox!

I picked up an '89 LX 5.0 conv. It's got 136k on it now and its in good shape. Needs a headliner for the top, new seat belt bezels, AC control ***** are worn, just typical little things. The car is bone stock. I just put an o/r xpipe and mac exhaust on it this weekend. I also replaced the worn shocks and struts with KYB's. This is my work car which saves miles and wearon my GT. I am however, doing my homework for when this motor and tranny take a poop. I'd like to put a stroker in it and swap it over to a 5speed. I may go a cheaper route though to free up more money for the GT. That route would be a new 5.0 H.O.or something around 3k. I found tremec 3650 trannys for about 700 bucks new. I'm not sure what i'm going to do at this point. I'd like to have an every-day-driver with around 300 rwhp. I am on a budget because i want a blower on the GT. For now i'll drive this one 'til the wheels fall off. I here that these motors are pretty resilient. There is a tick tick tick coming from under the left valve cover. I don't know if it's a loose rocker or what. It goes away once the car warms up. Any input, suggestions, or advice is appreciated. Thanks ya'll.

Going to take a heck of a lot more than that to put a stroker in it and convert to 5 speed. You don't need a stroker to get 300hp though. When it craps out, just rebuild it with forged internals and put a good head/intake/cam combo and you'll be getting up in the 350 range. If you go that rought and do the work yourself, you might keep it under 5k, but I wouldn't bet on it. If you're like me you won't just settle for a 3650. If you plan on running any kind of power, you better go ahead and get the TKO. Any one of the three will do.
