Default Opinion on this stang...

Was wondering what you people thought about this mustang. It has200k but supposedly the engine was completely rebuilt. I'd ask for receipts, along with other documentation obviously. Other than that it looks solid. I'd imagine synchros or something might be bad, but if I can get him low enough it might be good (i'd go out to look at it).

What do you guys think? I plan on doing HCI (systemax II) along with suspension mods for now. possible FI in a summer or two. the car would be driven niceweekends only, and garaged when not driven

It depends on how much you have to spend. If I were to buy it for say $2000, I would have to keep in mind another $500 to fix the interior, then another $2500 for paint, then say another $1000 for misc. parts. So that is close to 6G's I would have into that car. I am sure you could buy another fox that has good paint, good interior, with less miles for around the $4000 range and be ahead. JMO

I could care less about the interior for now. Also, the paint doesn't look horrible. I also don't know why i'd need 1k in misc parts immedaitly, until things break (which would happen with any other stang).

I've had a rough time finding a decently priced LX coupe 5.0 that wasn't a maitenence nightmare. This is the best i've found thus far.... but still i'll take everyones opinions.

you can get a DECENT note, not the best, not the worst, paintjob at maaco for 500 bucks...

normally has some excessive orange peel, no real flaws, etc, and you can wetsand it out, pretty good paintjob for 500 and some elbow grease...

id buy it, looks like a nice project

I agree with fuzzy dice, it doesn't look that bad... and if you could get it for 2k or less with a rebuilt motor... why not?

I think its worth something. Has a few dollars in the engine and doesn't look bad overall. However I will bet anything that he is selling because of the electrical problem and he can't fix it. It might be a lemon, but if the price is right

It would be a good starter stang. It really just depends on what you want out of it....if you want more and can spend more....spend more. If you just want a stang, get that one and fix it up if you want.

with 6 days being left on the auction as of right now, i'd say that car will go for atleast $3,000-$3500. i've bought cars that only needed this or that which ended up in a nightmare and def. more $ than i intended on spending, looks like whoever buys that stang will put more $ into than expected. just my 2 cents

He told me he's looking for 2100 for it, 2000 w/o the title. Alot of ebay sales don't go through, so I'm hoping whatever it goes to doesn't go through.

I'd be willing to give him 2000 for it. And yeah, I'd be the pump is related to some electrical problem, but hopefully it won't be anything like the need for a new ECM.

Also I'm a student so a fixer-uper is a definite need. I don't have too much hands on experience with cars but I read alot (read 2 full books on 5.0s - The official 5.0 guide and how to tune and modify your stang)

I only have about 3500 for a car atm, but I'll be working 40+ hour weeks over the summer so I'll have money slowly coming in for repairs, so I'm thinkin if this doesn't sell on ebay, it might be a good idea

I asked the guy for receipts (rebuild), specs on parts used, tranny upgrades, and some other. Anything else I should ask?

Thanks
