ok here's the deal... I am getting new rims and tires. I am going to get chrome cobra R's. I am 18 and in high school, as you can imagine I cannot afford it. So my dads buying them for me.. haha nice eh? But heres the problem I want 17' rims and he went and talked to some guy who said I better go with 16' rims because on the car I have (a stock 89 5.0 lx) they may have to mess with the springs and stuff. Is this true? I know plenty of people have 17' rims is it a problem in any way? Should I go for the 17 inch rims? I can't afford to be messing with potential spring and or any other suspension related things. Any thoughts or fact are welcome!

not positive but im pretty sure it depends on what tires size and width your going for also rim width. idk if the lx is different though.

 

Look around here, there are plenty of FOX bodies with 17" wheels on them.

 

I have 17's but mine is lowered 2 inches....

they rub a little, but i wouldn't think stock ride height should have any problems with them??

but i could be wrong, i have no idea honestly

 

ive got 17 on my stock ride height vert no problems with them i run 17x9 with 245/45 in the front and 17x10.5 with 275/40 in the rear weith the 275 i had to remove the quad shocks

 

just throw 245/45/17 on them and you'll be fine. who ever told your dad that is fully of it. i have that current setup right now. soon i'll be putting 275's out back and 255's up front.
