I am really tired of always missing 3rd gear with the stock shifter!! I am going to go buy a short throw shifter. I drive a 89 LX 5.0.What is the best short throw on the market?? Iwould perfer something that is pretty simple to install with out major mods. Cluch is a king cobra, trans is a T5. All suggestions arewelcome..

The install doesn't look to difficult. only differnce in the install than that link is you have to take out the center console i think?

 

dont get a upr.... I bought one at the nmra booth last year in BG and only 3 bolt holes lined up... I called and inquired about it and they told me that I would have to pay shipping to send it back and shipping on the new one....I bought their cable at the same time....lasted 20 miles.

I only missed third once with the MGW and that's cause it was breaking-in.

stock boot

depending on what tools you have, console removal is unnecessary.

ratchet wrench or shallow socket will work well.

gearwrench hollow ratchet works well too

 

I got a Hurst and I love it... I think they are around $200 but I got mine with the transmission I bought of craigslist so I am not sure on the price but I still give it two thumbs up...

 

if you dont go for the mgw then you can go steeda triax i just picked one up brand new to my door for 144$ from a advertiser off of another forum
