does it have the stock manifolds?

if so buy some shorty headers. and take it to an exhaust shop and ask them to run just straight pipes... they did it for my friends 99

didn't cost a lot either, and its a lot louder

I just put longtubes and im goin with straight pipes to flowmasters and then dumped. Cost me 67 to get the straight pipes with slight bend off the headers. Also made the reducer right on the pipe. Pretty good deal to me, i'm putting the rest of the exhaust on today. Hopefully its loud as hell!

You can get them custom made but In my opinion straight pipes on a 5.0 sounds like a pickup from personal experiments on my 82. You also might have stock exhaust all the way through andstock for stock the 04 was louder because it had 2.5 inch exhaust all the way through. If you want to wake the dead just cut off your mufflers and put summit race bullets/slp LM1/Glasspacks which are all the same style of resonator muffler and are very loud and raspy!

So I got the longtubes, 2.5 inch straight pipes, and flowmasters on. Sounds very loud..but its got a pretty decent rumble to it. It was pretty easy to do. The longtubes make a huge difference.

my friend has an x pipe on his 99GT and I have an X pipe on my 89, his is wayyyy louder than mine but higher pitched than mine too. To increase your Db's i'd say LT's, H pipe, SLP 1 loudmouths
