The point/flat spot of the pointer. The other is for a magnetic probe. Mine is set at 10* for my set up. My wifes is set at 14*

I must be doing something wrong. When I checked the timing going by the pointer it's at almost 40degrees!! How can that be? If that's correct i would think it would not start or turn over. The car starts right up everytime with no trouble.

I always have my eyes looking straight(no angle)at the pointer. Adjusting the timing is something you definately want to research before hand.

The timing light is the ones with the dial on the back. My #1 is on the pass side right? 5.0 HO with AOD.

Yes...put the clamp on #1 spark plug wire(about 6 inches from spark plug boot) and make sure that the arrow on clamp is pointingTOWARDS #1 spark plug not towards distributor. Keep clamp and wire to clamp away from headers....don't wanna burn anything.
