Default bought a 5.0

Hey guys i am now a proud owner of a 1990 5.0 lx gray 5 speed. It was originalloy getawfewlives on the forum by the way.
I have a few questions is it normal to have some grinding when you put it in reverse? How can you prevent this? Also my power lumbar seats only works 1 way? the + switch works but the - doesnt do anything? Also if the temperature needle is moving up and down does this mean i need a new thermostat? Lol I wanna drive this thing bad but i still dont have my licence yetIll get pics up when I get some new tires and lights put on.

well as for the grinding when going into reverse, you need to put the car into a forward gear, then back into reverse and it shouldnt grind

j/k. That car looks clean to me, welcome to our world. Yes, the grinding is your synchros, which happens to all cars with miles. To put my car in reverse, I double clutch, hit 5, then R. If I hit R straight shot it either doesnt go in or gives a short grind.

I thought there were no syncros in 1st or reverse...I may be quite wrong but thats what I've heard. Mine has only grinded once but sometimes you can feel the gears sort of "clash" always thought it was normal.

Lol dont worry brendan, it even states in the manual you have to wait 5 seconds before putting the car in reverse... or you can just put it in 5th first like I always did. Also the power lumbar works fine.. It only makes a noise when you press the button one way. The other way it just silently deflates. Btw thats a nice lookin car ya got there

Ya i found that out i was sitting in there and I could feel it deflate. Ya ive heard that reverse grinds so i wasnt to surprised. But its really hard putting it into second, i think the clutch needs adjusting.
