Restoring or painting molding on car....
I'm currently painting my car and have all the moldings off of it. I want to paint and get the molding ready myself so i was wondering if anyone has some insight on this.
First of all, its rubber so i know that you need to spray some flex paint primer first correct. Then after that what have people used for paint. I want the charcoal/black color. If anyones done this let me know. Thanks.

RE: Restoring or painting molding on car....
what molding are you referring to ??? it makes a difference. If you are talking about door molding, etc. I paint my moldings with regular autozone black molding paint. Suprisingly, it works really well. I painted some molding on my friends older BMW and its held up really nicely for over a year now with no problems.

I'm also goin to need to paint the plastic molding around the convertible top? Any idea no what to use for that?

Trim Black by sem...ive heard of people using that a few times now, i think i might go with th at. Did you just like degrease the molding and make sure it was clean then just give ti a few coats?
Should this paint work for both the rubber moldings and the plastic molding around the vert top and do generic stores carry this, whered you get yours?

SEM trim black works for everything. Yes clean them first then said with 320 or 400. The metal molding will probably need primer first. I would sand everything with 320 till theres no gloss, clean with wax and grease remover, then prime everything with 3 light coats of primer. Then sand with 400and blow them off and wipe them down . Now 3 light coats of trim black.
