Default 14.5 with HCI?

We went out to Sacramento Raceway tonight and ran the 89 and the best time out of it was 14.59 @ about 98mph.

Well, for starters, it was about 90* + out there, very dry air, and alot of cars didn't seem like they were doing well due to the temps out there.

The 89 has a balanced 306, cobra GT40 heads, Melling class 2 cam, cobra intake, headers, and an AOD (2100 stall) with 3:27's in the back. Stock sized tires in back. Traction didn't seem to be a big issue. I was thinking high 13's or low 14's, but it just didn't seem that the car wanted to perform.

Does this sound right??? Shoud an HCI car do better or is that OK?

I would hardly call that cam anything more than a doorstop, that aod and gear is a killer. I bet it goes like 200mph on the highway though

Luckily it wasn't me driving, it's my cuz's car, and he drove it, but we both "built" it.

Doorstop??

With the mph you should be high 13's. But i would be still be dissapointed running that with hci.

Well what suspension and tires on the rear are you running. What was your 60 foot time. No traction = poor et's.

Pretty much stock suspension, stock 255/55/16's on pony's. I'll try to get his time slips and look for the 60 ft times.

Also, on a side note, the car has all the smog stuff on it, and it does pass strict Cali smog.

AOD...sucks
stock gears....sucks

looks like for the mph you may be having 2.2-2.4 60 ft

gt40 heads are better than stock, but are in no way a WOW factor in comparison con aftermarket heads. Also do you have the specs of the cam?

98 mph is very good...you just need it to hook up better

throw 4.10s in it i have a bolt on car that runs better than that, either somethings wrong or autos with stock gears are that slow. your should be able to crack a 13.9 or a little better with tah trap speed.
