Default trans help

i am curently thinking about selling my car and picking up a 87 mustang by me

the car has a 460c.i. motor in it all the guy knows is 600+hp.........

the problem is..........he wants to sell it as is and the car's trans went out (only has reverse) i believe he said it was a TCI?

where can i find a trans online that would be a direct swap that will hold this kinda power?

OR how much would a trans cost from a transmission shop roughly?

Check out RedNeck Performance on Ebay. I have heard nothing but good things about their stuff and they are about the cheapest builder that I have seen. They build C4's to with stand 850 horsepower. I have also heard that they were tied in with Art Carr also. His trannies also come with a custom built convertor to you specified stall range. I got mine delivered for $1240 bucks. He has a warranty also I think on his trannies. They are out of Dallas, TX.area.

I wouldn't run a manual behind a big block myself, but that is my opinion. Go with a built automatic, more consistant, less likely to miss gears and a little easier on the driveline.

700hp sounds a little higher than I would expect it to make...but who knows...and maybe look into a powerglide or a well built C4.

Contact performance automatic. There supercomp should handle that kind of power. It cost around $2000 if I remember correctly but has a lifetime warrenty, you only have to pay shipping.
