maaco quoted me 400 for primer and a flat black coat and all the sanding and stuff. doest that sound legit? to me it sounds too good to be true and its my daily driver so i dont care if its a great paint job

I hope you sell the car shortly after. Trust me I've worked in body shops and the work to do a complete the right way, especially if you're changing colors, should take well more than the better part of one day.

yeah i thought i was going to have to leave it at least over a whole weekend to get it done but he said flat paint doesnt require any drying time... oh and i already stripped most of the car so the just have to sand a little and then spray it

I would do all the prep work yourself so you know you have a good surface before they paint it. The surface that is painted can make or break the job. It will also make it cheaper.
They are able to keep cost down because they use single stage paint. What you got quoted was probably single stage no clear, where as you can go up to their mid grade and get an integral clear coat which will help a lot with UV protection and fading. Plus ther's a 2 or 3 year warranty.
