Hi guys

I have 1993 stock mustang and planning to swap the engin with stock cobra 4.6/ 32 valves engin...

but wnna know what changes need to be done regarding the gear as it is the 5.0 (t5 gear), and any other changes if needed????

your going to want the 6sp that comes with the 4.6, the t5 would tear apart with the power if it would even fit. you might need a custom driveshaft, obviously a new computer from the car ur getting the motor from. a few fuel upgrades and etc. you'd be better off buying a totaled cobra with a good drivetrain.

 

you need the tranny that fits that year motor, not sure if it was the tremec 3650 or something else, I 'm not up on what the newer mustangs used as trannies, but a t-5 has the wrong bellhousing and if it would work it'd hold up to the power, cause my 85/347 is using a stock t-5 and it puts out more power than a stock cobra 4.6

 

the 4.6 motors used a T-45 but if i were you i'd do what ctgreddy said and get a t-56

 

yeah the 3650's didn't go in the cars until the S197 was introduced i believe

3650's came in mid 01 from what I remember

 

theres a site called modularfoxes, or something like that. The entire site is dedicated to people with fox bodies putting 4.6 motors in them.
