Default Prepping GT lights?

Any of you guys done this before? As you know, they are the 'cheesegrater' lights, and that makes them fairly difficult to work with if you need paint because they actually need to be painted themselves. Do any of you have any experience doing this? I won't be the one spraying, but I'd like to know what needs to be done to
a) get a nice coat on the grill part of the tail light
b) keep the actual inlets from getting paint on them, and not having paint show up in the edges around them either.

I know some of you have done this before, and I am having someone else spray the car, but I'm doing all the prep work. Considering it's plastic as well, what kind of stuff should I use, and I am guessing I would just tape over the inlets and use a razor around the edges to get a clean paint match or what?

- and YES, I could get LX lights but I don't want them since my car is a GT and I like the GT lights on there. Besides, most people I know throw away the GT lights which kind of makes the car feel like it's missing a big part of it to me.

Any tips appreciated. Just trying to get this thing ready for paint, but this is an odd part for prepping.

Tape 'n exacto knife. What a PITA,I agree one of the best feature's of a GT.With the rear ground fx,cheese graters and factory wing it's one of the best rear ends in car history! And worth the effort. You watch, people will be switching back to these in the future.

Yes it definately is a royal pain, and I think I'm still going to get a set of LX lights.
