Sooooooooo, bought a 5.0 for my son for a project car. Ist item has apparently surfaced. He was driving last night and heard a clunk. Now only has 4th gear.

Soooo, where do we start.

Not exactly what I had in mind to start bringing this baby back to life.

Any thoughts.

 

Well, I would probably start by dropping the trans and opening it up to see what broke.

 

Does it even try to go into any other gear? how is the clutch pedal pressure? Does it go into any other gear when the car is off and you are moving the shifter?

 

Yep, it engages in all gears. Just no go. Clutch pressure seems fine. Thanks guys, keep em' coming.......

 

Can't seem to access the "Want to Buy Section, Soooooooo. Anyone know of a T-5 Transmission For Sale, used, preferable in the Southeast, so I can just pick it up?

I can tell you exactly what happened some of the teeth on the input shaft broke happened to me about 6 months ago and then again fri. night axcept for this last time I have no gears

do they sell hardend/better input shafts? or can he just replace that on the tranny and be done?

 

by my last look at my trans. he's gonna have to get a new input shaft and the main gear on the bottom rod for sure

 

Uhh... If his problem was the input shaft how would he have 4th gear still? Sounds more internal to me.
