Those Without Power Steering

For those of you that have removed your power steering for the drag strip, what setup are you using?

mustangsneverdie 11-23-2008 01:28 PM

I'm still using a stock rack and pinion

How do u like the flaming river setup? I am assuming you got the FR1890? How much modding did you have to do to get it to fit?

Shelty 11-23-2008 04:21 PM

^^^ you'll need the manual rack, and then the steering shaft...

Bansh-eman 11-23-2008 04:32 PM

The FR1890 is the whole manual kit isnt it, comes with shaft and everything

the only differance from the 1890 and the 1890Q is the number of turns to lock correct?

Shelty 11-23-2008 04:35 PM

looks like it I'd get new hardware while your at it. dont know what size bolts they are personally, but Grade 8 bolts are a must for under the hood...

you can buy a fairmont manual rack from the parts store and get the rag jointt and bolt it in. i want to go manual soon.

how much modifications does it take to fit the fairmonts rack in there? OEM they look to be selling for around 200, if there are lot more parts needed plus the shaft, it might be around the same to just get a Flaming River and not deal with it. You happen to know what the turn to lock is on the fairmont?
