Default removing valve covers

ok so on the drivers side i removed all the bolts for the valve cover but it wont break lose i was told to hit it with a rubber mallet.

the passenger side valve cover i removed 5 bolts then the 6th bolt is almost imposible to reach since there is a hook that is in front if it is there away around this hook?

The valve cover is probably glued on with silicon sealant. Put a putty knife in the crack and gently tap it in. That usually breaks the seal enough so you can get it off.

I'm not sure about the hook you're referring to. But it's probably the factory lift hook? Can you take it off?

The engine lift hooks bend in toward the engine when the engine is pulled and that will cause you not to be able to get a socket in there. You have to remove them. The drivers side is a peice of cake, but the passenger side can be a **** to take out because of the somg tubes, trans dipstick, etc.

I just use a 1/4 socket and a universal to reach down in between cover and hook, I never really have to remove them......pry a screwdriver between head surface and cover and pop it loose
