Guy I work with set a hoist down on his impact wrench by accident. The lift had a crossfire on it at the time he set it on the impact. We raised the lift about 45 mins later and his impact works fine still ! Those Matco ones are tough.

I let my alignment rack down on a Snap-On roll cart and ruined it because I just forgot. It was about a foot tall before I realized it was under the lift. I had an armored car (E350) on the rack when it was lowered. After I got pissed off because I did something stupid I threw the rest of what was left and kick it across the shop. I jumped in the van and went to back it out and heard a crashing sound. I had lowered the bay door down low enough to keep the sun off my targets and so aggrivated I forgot about raising the door back up to clear the van. I tore the bottom two sections off the door. I went about 700 dollars in the hole on that alignment. I had to sit and wait until 1 in the morning for the door guy.

that just goes to show once yer aggrivated look out for the snowball effect. i too ruined a door but i was raisin a truck for a clutch job then the boss came out and started talking to me. the truck had a extra tall cap and bent the door because i forgot to close it. but a week later the boss decided to do an oil change on the shop truck in the same bay. he made a joke by pointing out to me and the other tech that he had closed the door before lifting the vehicle. but the truck has side racks to hold tractor tires and stuff, he broke off the smoke alarm sensor. we got to see the firemen and police that day

Since then I purchased several of the Ingersoll-Rand 2135TI Titainium Impacts. I'm sure somewhere down the road they will build a better Impact but to date I've never seen a better or stronger 1/2 Impact. It weighs about four pounds and has 1000 ftbls of torque. Its one bad boy! I pay about 250 for mine. I have two in the assembly shop and two at the house. I've never had a minutes problem out of any of them.
My dad has a 3/8 and 1/2 drive snap-on impact. He has not had a bit of trouble out of them. The 1/2 drive has tons of torque. Ingersoll-Rand used to make snap-on but I think snap-on makes their own now.
