Default Trans mount

I'm having a header clearance issue with my 85 Fox. I have raised port heads and the headers fit pretty tight I need to lower the back of the transmission about 1/4 of an inch so my 3 inch pipes coming off the collectors wont hit the crossmember. I'm using a Energy suspension mount set but would like to find a thinner trans mount so I won't have any exhaust touching. I thought maybe someone knows anywhere that sells them before I go cutting up the cross member to get what I need. TIA

Have you tried using a stock rubber mount? The polys are pretty stout. maybe the rubber will get you what you need.

Yeah, it was actually about 1/8 thicker. I was going to machine the differance off the bottom off the mount but it only has about 3/8 thick plate in the mount. If I didn't use the preload plate it would get me close but I already know thats a No-No.

I really dont want to cut up the cross member but if I was going to. I'd cut the section whe the mount goes and drop it about 1/4 inch between the outer rails. It's a new FMS adjustable cross member so I have some welding to do anyway. I was looking for the easy way out. lol

Yeah, it was the first thing I though of also. I went down to NAPA and looked through about 6 mounts.

If I went with the solid trans mount it would break the tailshaft unless I went with solid engine mounts. If I went that route I'd have to buy some extra strength PoyGrip.lol
