Default Plotting my engine setup. Thoughts?

Gotta completely stock AOD 5.0 LX (1990) and am ready to start buying parts for spring.

It's gonna be a street car, and like everyone else, I want 300RWHP

Here's what I'm thinking:

- Used GT40 P Heads

- E303 or TFS1 cam (advice on this choice?)

- GT40/explorer style upper/lower intake

- 70mm T/B

- Cheapest shortys I can find that'll fit the P heads

- Cheapo Off Road H pipe

And Ima try to pick up a used 6psi blower setup (paxton or powerdyne) I know powerdyne gets a bad rap on here, but I like the simplicity and cheapness.

Whatya think? this should put about 300 to the ground even with an auto? I was thinking so.

Will all the above require a switch to 24lb or better injectors?

I'm planning on trying to find as many used parts as pos. and hopefully spend about 2k. Think that's doable?

Thanks!

i dunno about 2g's, theres alot more you'll need to buy. with a cam you'll need a new valvetrain, period(pushrods, rockers, springs) then you'll need fuel upgrades, atleast 24#s, new pump, afpr would be a good idea. i'd say just find a used blower with more than 6psi, like 9 or 10, then get exhaust.

I know I know

I just cant stand the idea of forcing air through a ****ty top end for some reason.

Good call on the valvetrain. I'm not dead set on 2k, just don't wanna end up with a huge pile of money in this car like I've done with all my others.

Between 2&3k I guess is more realistic. But the closer to 2k the better

lol. i know i had a price set for my car of 5k. i'm right around 8500 now.
damn car ha.

i guess you could do the gt40 h/i and the 6# charger. that should still put you atleast close to your goal. then upgrade the cam/valvetrain later.

Hey there's an idea.

That way I wouldnt have to stress about not having the appropriate 500$ torque converter for my cam profile! HA!

Think the stock cam will be much of a hold back point with a GT40 top end?

If I'll be sacrificing like 30hp It'll bug me to death so I'd rather just spring for a cam etc. while I'm already tearing it apart.

nah the stock cam is pretty decent actually. just throw the h/i/poweradder on there and have fun.

Thanks for the tips! I like the way you think....

I'll give it a go with the stock cam and see where I get

with bolt on-n and at least 10 psi of boost 300 rwhp is a breeze and you shouldn't have to open up the motor one bit

True but arent more fuel mods required for that much boost? And again, for some reason it bothers me in general to boost through a super restrictive top end.

You think 2k would be better spent on a used Vortech (or similar) and supporting mods set up for 9-10psi, than a used GT40 top end and a used powerdyne (or similar) set up for 6psi?

Which would make more/more useable power?

Stock E7 top end seeing 9psi?

Or

GT40 Top end seeing 6psi?

Just curious.

i would keep the stock cam add some 1.7 rr's
use a gt40 top end, a used vortech with some where around 8-10psi
fuel upgrades
exhaust
and the most important part
A GOOD TUNE
