my brothers 03 wrx is just about as stiff but idk what kinda clutch it has....

but jump into a honda right after driving and it feels like you will push the pedal through the floor lol

I like our centerforce DF. I wouldn't say it's stiff at all, although it's also what I really learned to drive a stick on.

Be sure to tell him how slow his car is getting that way he breaks into that motor for some more go fast parts too. He getting a little on the senile side wanting flames and 24's instead of speed .

The only clutch feel I have experienced is stock and a king cobra and I got tired of that thing when sitting in traffic. But I have been wondering to on how other clutches feel compared to the KC.

i have the DF CF and i freakin love it. when i called the rep he stated it'll handle DD 400hp cars but if you are a regular drag racer he recommended the DFX. i dont know if its just a centerforce thing or not but they have the weights on the fingers of the clutch

"Additional clutch torque capacity by harnessing centrifugal force as engine RPM increases. Using centrifugal force and leverage on the clutch diaphragm the Centerforce weight system actually increases clamp-load with engine speed and power."

just check out the webpage. centerforce has a ton of stuff going on for them. they hold a ton of patents on clutch technology for innovative ideas.

^^^^^thanks Kyle, I think I'll read up on centerforce tonight, Bernie told me the dfx is grabby and I'm not sure if I want something like that...but I also don't want a huge stiff pedal so I'm stuck possibley making A compromise somewhere.

x2 on the centerforce df! I went from stock to it and IMO peddle feel is lighter with the centerforce. Have it on my uncles 460 rwhp mustang and it's doing great as well.

Ive installed several Spec Clutches (several stage two and one stage three) at customers request. I had one stage 2 that had a problem with the lining coming off the clutch disc. under much protest Spec sent out another disc to replace the one that had just been taken from the box. It took 9 working days to get it. Once installed the pedal effort was horrible so we changed the quadrent. The effort was still more than the girl that owned the car liked but was acceptable (good thing because she bought the parts) but I drove the car (97 Mystic Cobra) and that POS chattered so bad I'm surprized the rearview mirror didnt fall off. Brand new Flywheel as well in the car. I wouldn't hit a hog in the azz with one of those POS, lol All of them chatter. The stage three fell like an old Ford 390 Ram Clutch Tri Arm gone bad. I put one of those in an LS1 Camaro. I wouldn't have driven that thing down Ocean Blvd in the summer for the car.

On the other hand we installed a lot of Centerforce DF clutches. I loved those. I guess I'm just getting too old to have to stand on the clutch with both feet (figure of speech) and have my dentures shaken loose from a Spec Clutch. They hold good (like any clutch) but they take the fun out of driving the car. Spec Has the some of the worst customer service I've ever experianced. They Suck plain and simple and the clutches are worse than anything I've ever used. I wouldn't install another one if the customer was standing there with a fist full of hundred dollar bills. lol

Mike, the DFX is grabby, but not too terrible. And the pedal effort is just a touch bit more than the DF. Don't buy anything until you get a chance to drive mine. It may not be as bad as I make it out to be. Just compared to the DF, it is more aggressive. But it's geared more towards a racing application. I mean, the DFX doesn't stop me from driving it. You just have to get used to it.

the DF supposedly has a 30% lighter pedal than stock (per the website and rep i spoke to) which i would agree with, i think the pedal is very light but the clutch grabs much harder than stock. The DFX is only a little more stiff than stock but grabs a lot harder than the DF disk.

"Centerforce uses ball bearings as a fulcrum (pivot) point for the pressure plate diaphragm spring. By utilizing this unique system, Centerforce can increase clutch holding-capacity and keep the pedal effort low. This also allows Centerforce to increase the quality and repeatability of each clutch developed with this process. "
