ya its still on the car, i plan not to take it off either lol. They said to drill a pilot hole 1/8" and then use this giant sharp ice pick of a thing and hit it until the pan opens up! lol, but i can get any results....so i was looking into other alternatives, what would you coat the bit with mjr?

Hmm...I just poked a small hole into the oil pan and then slowly increased the hole size using various taps. It took about an hour of very easy turning. I am surprised you are having a tough time. Also, When threading in the new fitting use RTV or silicone sealant, to prevent any leaks down the road. And flush your oil again before you start the car. A magnet will also be handy to catch the shavings.

ya i know the silicone, magnet, and changing oil.... its the enlarging the hole thats giving me the trouble, my instructions dont give any mention of using various taps, but instead a giant ice pic shaped punch lol

Attach a magnet to the tap

Youre not hitting the punch hard enough, or you need to start with a smaller one

If you use a sharp punch a good smack will fold it right in. Go up on the size gradual. When you get to the point of using the tap fill the flutes of the tap with grease to hold the metal coming off the pan. I use Valvoline wheel bearing grease when I did these. You just need a bigger hammer, lol
