My little brother bought a 90 Mustang and isn't very mechanical. He is on base in Seattle and he brought it to a guy that specializes in Mustangs supposedly. This guy told him that since he has no cats that he's losing horsepower because they're missing with no back pressure and then quoted him $1200 to install headers to tailpipes...with cats...wierd...

 

well from what i know as long as hes running mufflers and not to big of a pipe back pressure should not be a problem but im not an expert

 

Sounds like he need to get on the fourm and start asking questions!

 

back pressure...lol, ask the ole fogy why does a car run faster with open headers if back pressure is needed to make power??

Did that price include the parts? Yes a motor does need some backpressure, but cat really don't effect hp.
