Default Overheating problems?

OK, I can't figure it out. I've installed an electric, fan 3-row aluminum radiator, 160 degree thermo, a summit waterpump and the damn thing is still getting hot! It started leaking out of the hose that goes into the thermostat housing. Help anyone!!

Although it's not causing the overheating, a 160* thermostat is way too cold and should be changed. Running lean or having your timing set too high will cause engine temps to skyrocket.

Have you tried not using a thermostat? If so, does it still overheat then?

Whats your engine combo?

Not using a t-stat is one SURE way to make it overheat. With no t-stat, the water is circulating too fast and doesn't stay in the radiator long enough to get cooled down and temps climb.

i have a 160 t stat in mine and my car runs fine with no problems at for the last 3 years and im running a turbo car... might have blown a head gasket. even if you dont see water in your oil you can still have one.... thats another reason for overheating

Possible air trapped in the cooling system.

take the thermostat out and drill a small hole in it (around 1/16") towards the top of it. this will let air out of the motor more easily.

check your compression and make sure you havent blown the gasket

Is there any way to get air out of the cooling system without drilling a hole?
