Default Mmm...gears

Picked up the toy from the shop today....from 2.73's to 3.73's....and a new MSD ignition. Quite nice, anyone teetering on the edge of deciding on gears or not, highly recommended. They recommended holding off being too mean with it until about 500 miles, does that sound about right?....or they being a bit on the cautious side?

wow... thanks for the input... i think we all knew what kind of magic a set of gears can do.

and yes, go easy for a few hundred miles... let the bearings set into their final place

I beat on my rear end just as soon as I got the car drivable. I used to watch my Father launch his low 10 second car off the transbrake just as soon as we would get it on the ground from a gear change. But I guess in a way, it's always a decent idea to let things get broke in before hammering on it. It's just not our style. My rearend had less than 200 miles on it before I was launching off of the transbrake at the drag strip.

I would take it easy for at least 200 miles. 500 seems a bit much. When I first got my gears, they told me to romp on it. So I did it a couple of times. I got home and the rear-differential was leaking. I took it back and they fixed it. They then told me to take it easy for 100 miles.
