Default A/C diverts with acceleration

Hey all,
This may sound very strange to you like it does me, but has anybody else had an issue with the A/C diverting from panel to floor/defrost with acceleration? The A/C really only works on full power (unknown if it is a switch or blower motor issue ), but when I hit the gas, all the air switches and blows through the floor/defrost vents. This happens every time, even with minimal throttle, and is quite annoying to the wife. Any info is greatly appreciated.
PS: This is on a 1990 GT hatch.

Thanks,
JC

you have a vaccum leak , trace the black line that goes into the firewall by the evaporator lines or check valve is bad, and blower motor resistor is bad

Ok, I'm having the same problem with my 89. I've checked all the lines come and going and I can't find a leak anywhere. Blew into each one and no leaks. Everything works perfectly other than the diverting of the air when I accelerate. Any other suggestions on where to go next?

From my search, everything is still in place and in working order. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious that's right in front of my face that I can't see. I'll keep trying.

It could be your that your WAC: Wide-open throttle A/C cutoff has gone bad and not a vacuum problem, it shuts off the A/C when you go wide open throttle.

This is from the 89 Ford Shop Manual.

All that relay does is cut the power to the a/c compressor clutch it does not affect where air blows out, since panel registry is changing it is a vaccum related prob
