Default Head Question

As you can see from my sig I have an E303 cam, but stock E7 heads. I have read on here before that the heads are killing my cam. I can get a set of GT40 heads cheap and I was wondering if this will help my setup. I know there not the best in the world but it's something I can afford now. As always thanks for the advice.

heads will help, your cam will not. change your cam while you are at it. but yes e7 heads are the biggest hold up on these motors.

It will help, but it won't be a night-day difference. For the E-303 (or any other cam).... you need to match it with the correct valve train components (springs, retainers, locks, correct PR's length).

If you don't mind spending $1,050 per head, you could get the new Edelbrock RPM XT 18 degree heads and a custom cam. You'd make a crapload of power.

$1,350 for a set of TFW TW 170cc or ~$1,500 for a set of TFS TW 190cc "fast as cast" + a custom cam ($300-$400)..... and there will be some budget left for new undies.

Haha, yeah, that's true. Even a set of TEA ported TW's costs less. Those heads are still new and seem to have great potential(at least on paper) and use good quality parts, but I guess only time will tell if they're actually worth the money. I suppose a lot of the money is in the valvetrain though, lightweight valves and beehive springs.

those new TFS Fast Cast heads look amazing. i really want to see how they clean up with a little bowl work and some mild porting. they're already around 270cfm @ .600 lift.

If I were you I'd run your current setup until you can put together a well matched Head/Cam and Intake package. If you are just going to swap the heads just stick to the cam you have. I don't like the E cam but it will work pretty good with the GT40 heads and current intake.

Thanks for the advice. I will eventually get a good h/c/i combo, but I can't afford it right now. I'll probably go ahead and put the GT40 heads on now and run them until I can afford what I want. I really need to put some money into my suspension before I buy a new combo.
