clutch/trans problem
my 89 lx seems to be really acting up on me the past while. sometimes its near impossible to get it into gear. reverse grinds like no tommorow. I usualy have to turn it off to get it in. i have to mash the clutch right to the floor to let me get it into first and it grabs way early like an inch from the floor. is my clutch gone or do i need a new adjustable cable? it seems to get worse and worse the more heat it gets. when its cold its alot better.
and also more than half the time I need to to hold it into 2nd or it pops out or wont go in at all or I feel a big clunk when shifting....all other gears are fine
any help would be well appreciated

if you have the stock quadrent, you need to upgrade to a aftermarket quadrent and adjuster to start.
most tran's that pop out of gear is a good sign they are starting to fail. (i think the sycro's make it pop out of gear)

well I can floor it in 5th and it wont slip at all. a guy from western performance told me its more than likely the quadrant and he recommended the steeda cable and quadrant kit. ill probably pull the trans this winter and get it built nicely. i think she will hold for a summer of beatings
thanks guys

well the whole long weekend I cruised around frying the tires off it and pitching it in the corners around the mountains and the clutch was great! stood up to countless redline clutch drops and downshifts and for the most part performed great after some little things i did to it. but now after driving to work it went back to making it imposible to get it in gear at the stop light etc...so my question is: should I pick up a FULL aftermarket setup? or a stock replacement cable (napa) with aftermarket quadrant and adjuster? what seems to work the best?

I got the bbk kit and the cable is really stiff and sticky. Plus noisy. I tried to reuse my stock cable with just the quadrant and firewall adjuster but the cable was way too short. Is there any way to make the bbk one bind less?
