Question cam replacement???

what years could you change the cam just by taking the intake manifold off instead of pulling it out the front??

Been doing this for 50+ years and I've never seen any engine where the cam was able to be replaced by removing the intake only. Thats not to say there isn't one out there but I've never heard of or seen it. Now there are lots of them(OHC) you can change the Cam(s) with just valve cover removal.

Haha, yeah, but that's not the way you want a cam to come out of your engine!!

When a solid roller lifter comes apart in a 540 big block Chevy at 6700 rpm it's like pulling the pin on a grenade. You are lucky if you can salvage the heads, lol

You should be able to pull the cam by taking off the timing cover and pull it out the front. You need to take the two bolts out of the oil pan that attach to the cover....but you also have to remove the accessories, radiator, a/c condenser and possibly the bumper to get it out....but it's doable by "just taking the intake off." Depends what your definition of just is.
