Default aod strength

i was wondering how much power you could run through a built aod. mine has extra clutch packs in 1st and 2nd gear, with a 2400 stall, shift kit, and a few more good parts. im building a turbo car and want to put down about 550-600 rwhp. any advice would help

not gonna happen. you need to go with a heavy duty unit, or switch to a C4.

the AOD isnt exactly a strong unit

its going to take a few more mods for an aod to hold that kind of power.

i have an aod in my car turbo car but with a lot more done to it.
alto red clutches with kolene steels
added clutches in all gears
mechanical diode
A++ OD servo
one piece input shaft
non lock up converter
2" OD band

the AOD will take sick HP if built right more then a C-4 will for a longer time at that. Check out some of the Lentech stuff they have AODs rated to 1500hp and 1000ft# of torque. I will be looking to move over to a 4r70w maybe this winter. all the OD stuff is big $ compared to the C-4 but you do get to pick up OD but if you are gone turbo and don't want to run 70+ MPH all the time the C-4 works well for a good price. I put 60+ miles on mine Sat. night on a cruise and it is a C-4 and I run 331 rear gears and a 28in tall tire. and did a lot of that on the interstate I would like the OD much more but it is not to bad at all 65 MPH is like 2700 on the tack. Not to bad for a very low 10sec car. If you go over to the Turbo Forums lots of guys yell about the C-4 with turbos not holding up due to the torque made with the turbo cars but there a few that run them as do I but I build my own so the only thing I Pay for is parts.
The Mexican block is the best 8.2 deck factory production block other then the old Boss block Ford made IMO. I have seen a few in the 9s but you will need to keep the tune safe and not rev the thing to the moon but that is one thing nice about the turbos you don't need to to rev it real hard to make power. But I would be saving up for a good block

im only planning to run about a 6,000rpm redline in the car, and probably only about 10-12lbs of boost. i was told that a dss main support girdle would be a good investment any ideas on that.

I really don't think they help that much but it did hold ours together nice when it blew up. But it wont hurt anything to have either
