I have ran an O/R H-pipe, catted H-Pipe, O/R X-Pipe and catted X-pipe. Yes, the H pipe gives you that deep and hollow sound. However, a True X-pipe(like Magnaflow) gives you a higher pitched snarl. It sounds good. Then there's the weird X pipe that BBK and Basssani makes. That gives you pure rasp and can get very annoying. My favorite setup is the catted Magnaflow. It just gives you a very unique sound.

For the average bolt on car the power difference will be extremely minimal between the two. There will be a sound difference. Check out the exhaust sticky and you can listen to both. From there, make your decision... simple as that lol

As stated!

X will be raspier and higher pitched sound, H will be deeper and throatier sound.
I prefer X pipes myself.

X pipes give a miniscule amount more HP and are quieter at idle, but loud and raspy at WOT.
H pipes are a deeper louder idle, and loud and rumble at WOT.
