My 1994 5.0 5-speed has been having some issues...

Usually it runs great but about once a week, When I start the car, it wants to immediately stall on me. I can get around this by revving the engine when it is stopped. The minute i let off the gas, it dies. Once driving, the car seems to have slightly diminished power and gurgles loudly after shifting. While driving at any speed, putting the clutch in makes the RPMs drop quickly, and without a quick shift the car will stall. After anywhere from 5 minutes to hours of driving, the car snaps out of it and goes back to a perfectly normal car.

Lately, the CHECK ENGINE light comes on from time to time, but only when it is having this problem.

It seems to happen more often when the tank is low.. making me think the fuel filter is dirty or that the tank is gunky. I have had the injectors purged to no avail, and the fuel pump replaced a while back when it quit on me, and dont know what to do now.


Any ideas?? It is difficult to take it to a mechanic here because it rarely has this problem!! I am sick of having to use the clutch, gas pedal, and handbrake at the same time!!!!
