Default LRS Top End Kit

Hi Everyone,

I recently got a 90GT and have be reading a ton of forums for the past little while. I was looking into getting H/C/I when I came across this kit at LRS http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-6049PK

I couldn't find any info about this kit anywhere so I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of gains could be expected? My car is basically stock...

I was looking into the Trick Flow kit, but it seems to be a bit out of my price range...I was hoping to spend around $2k. I could spring the extra $500 for the trick flow kit (if I had to), but my car is a daily driver and I'm just looking to have a bit more fun with it - so I don't know if the TF kit is necessary depending on what kind of gains I could expect from the LRS kit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well you can put that kit together yourself cheaper usually. It would provide a good boost in performance but the trickflow would give you more. The P heads in the kit can be found in junk yards and require specific headers because of the angle of the spark plugs.

Yeah - I've heard that you can put stuff together quite cheap. I should've mentioned it earlier, but I was looking more for something that was as easy to install as possible...I don't want to be looking for parts etc. So I would most likely be wanting to get a kit.

This kit does come with shorty headers, so I guess that would address that problem?

In terms of actual gains, what kind of numbers do you think this kit could put down? I've heard the trick flow kits put around 270-290 at the wheels.

honestly if ur gonna get those parts find them used.. not at all worth the money for them new for the amount of power you get. gt40 and p heads can be had for like $300-400 ready to go and the intake for like 200. and that cam for $100. then a gasket kit for like 100.

i have the aluminum gt40x heads that i got a good deal on but i wish i still had more for the amount of time and work i put in. mine is a DD as well.

in all honesty save for a few more weeks and get the better kit. you will be much happier. used trickflow stuff is hard to come by

my hci setup including everything (all parts bought used besides gaskets, head bolts and timing chain)

$600 - gt40x aluminums
$100 - f303 cam
$150 - gt40p intake (i made a deal and got mine for free)
$120 - gaskets
$100 - ProM Maf
$100 - 24# injectors
$150 - accufab TB
$40 - timing chain
$45 - arp head bolts

$1405 total + other nickel and dime crap

and $350 of that is stuff not in the kit plus my heads are better

so u could but all that in the kit for like $800

I'd say there are better ways to spend your money.

Thanks for the input guys. I know there are definitely cheaper ways of going about it. The reason why I was looking into a kit is because I live in Canada. So it's actually much harder to come across good/cheap used parts. I know there's a lot of good stuff on ebay as well, but shipping is absolutely killer most of the time.

So I was looking specifically at getting a kit, as it would take out many head aches.

If anyone could provide a general estimate of the amount of power gains from this kit that would be awesome. Do you think it could make 250 rwhp?

One of the ideas I had was to buy a cheap H/C/I kit like this and then when I get some more money in the future add like a 5psi vortech or something for 2K. What do you think?
