Doesnt the speed sensor also have something to do with the cruise conrtol as well? my 88 donor car didnt come with a speed sensor and it is non cruise control. I am adding one because my car is doing exactly what adder discribed above and because my mass air conversion instructions said to.
Well it may cause drive ability issues. Here is some good info on ACT sensors http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=29 . He could drill and tap for it somewhere else if he wanted to. I have herd of people putting it in their inlet tube with a bung. Just tell him he needs to drill and tap for it in the intake, much easier: 3/8npt.
the ACT sensor is a source for spark retard control. if it is not reading the actual data from inside the tubes, it may cause your car to run more advance than you should be, and on a hot day, can cause pinging
