Well I said it is an 87. No mass Air. I ran into a guy who said I needed an upgrade an I had no idea what he was talking about. Right now the engine is pretty much stock with only 5,000ish miles on the rebuild. Coming soon is: Cobra Intake, gt40 heads, cam and a supercharger. This engine now makes tons of power so after all this she should be just where I want her. I don't think its really necessary for an upgrade but he really seemed to think so.

No, what he means is you'll need a tune downloaded onto your ecu (via software program, chip, or piggy back tuning unit), to get the most out of your car (both performance and reliability) once that stuff gets on the block.

a mass air flow conversion would help a ton. A tune is also great, but with a MAF converstion not really needed.

is the weight of your RX7 with you in it?

me and my brother are thinking of starting up a monster miata project....

well just because the motor is an 87 doesnt mean the computer was an 87 I just wanted to make sure. just convert it to mass air with an a9l and you'll be fine

Nope not with me in it. The car has almost every weight trick in the book done to it. It is one of the lightest v8 rx7's on the planet that still has full interior. With the 295 rear tire and possi 4.11 gear it makes a fun car to drive lol. The power to weight ratio is what its all about.

Thanks for the help guys.

cool. I was just wondering because we would like the miata to not go over 2300lb's without driver, but you can get those lil things right at 2k lb's with the 4 bangers, so our goal should be attainable.
