Rear Ended
Hey guys this is my first post- but I have been lurking around here for awhile. I have a very clean 1988 GT.
So last night I had to stop short and (sure enough) was rear ended by a young girl in a Lexus who was probably on her cell phone at the time. Miraculously, there is absolutely NO visible damage to my car, it was hit flat on the rear bumper towards the passenger side. When I get underneath the car I can see where the bumper "shock" thing compressed about halfway, but everything seems perfect underneath as well. Car still drives perfectly too I think. I guess I am wondering, could something still be damaged under the skin even though everything looks fine? I dont know if I should bother taking it to a shop to get it checked out or not...Thanks in advance guys!

Well, you can always go to a shop and talk to the guys that work there. They will usually tell you straight up what the deal is.
FYI the "shock" thing is the actual bumper, and the plastic body part covering it is called the bumper cover.
In my opinion there is prob. nothing wrong.

thanks for the quick reply- took it to a local body shop and they said the gas filled shock part of the bumper absorbed all of the impact (which I guess was pretty minor even though it felt like a decent hit) so I guess I'm good.
lol that is awesome (not about crashing but about your car surviving relatively unscathed) I'll bet she thinks twice before tangling with a 5.0 again haha...
