93 Reborn Build
The sending unit looks 10 times better after it soaked for 24 hours. I did have to lightly scrape off the rust but it came right off. Right now it is soaking in baking soda and water to nuetralize the acid. I will get a pic of it up tonight.
On another note I am about to skip the rest of the porting I wanted to do since I really don't have the time to sit out there for hours doing it so I might be buttoning up the motor completely here soon. I think I will be trying to get the transmission cleaned up tonight so I can throw some paint on it. I can't decide on if I just want to paint it aluminum color or black to go with my blue/black motor. I am thinking leaving it aluminum so it stands out more once I do get the underbody painted black

Yes it will. What setup you have doesn't matter to the sending unit. That depends on your gauge cluster. A 4 eye cluster can't read a 87+ sending unit correctly which is the problem I had with the 83. With the fuel pump and pick up I just have a piece of rubber hose cut to the same length as the stock pump in the pump's place. I never had a problem with it when I drove the 83. I am also using all the stock EFI fuel lines to run to the front and for the return. I am just going to trim off the ends of the metal lines that usually connect to the fuel rail, flare them, and put hose on it to connect to my mechanical pump. That will be routed under the motor going across the steering rack.
I got my fuel lines taken care of. I used the stock EFI chrome lines and bent them straightish. I ran them down in front of the steering rack and then cut off what I didn't need with a hacksaw. Then I flared the ends to be able to slap on some rubber hose to my mechanical pump. Pics to come.......
