4cyl spindle compared to v8 spindle, whats the diff?
Alright I still currently have the 4 banger brakes on my car and looking to upgrade to the v8's with some nice rotors and prolly put some braided lines up front too.Anyways, whats the difference in the spindles?Shaft size?anything? And if anyone has any parts for sale let me know. Thanks in advanced

86 and earlier cars used the same spindles as 87-up 4 cylinder cars. I just swapped 87-up spindles onto my 85 GT. The inner wheel bearings are different, the spindle is different obviously, the caliper is different, brake lines are different, pads, rotors, etc. The mounting area where the strut bolts to the spindle is actually thinner on the 87-up V8 spindle and the mounting holes are a little further apart. Being left broke from buying OE 93 cobra wheels and new tires I actually re-used my stock struts. I ovaled out the upper strut mounting holes with a carbide bit on my die grinder and used some 5/8" washers to take up the slack. 93 cobra rotors fit the later spindles perfect, and have a 3/4" thicker hat so my track width now matches the rear turbo coupe disc axle I have. So the OE cobra wheels fit perfect.

4 cyl vs v8
So just found out the hard way. Car was a 4 cylinder and spindles are different. So will 85 struts fit on 87 4 cylinder spindles? what about the calipers and brakes 4 cylinder vs v8? I'm trying to replace the front struts to v8.
