Default tools needed

ok, so either later this week or early next week I may get out to the pull a part to search for some 5 lug spindles and maybe some ranger axles for the back.

what tools, size wrenches etc. do I need to get the front spindles apart?

I assume I need a torx bit for the brake calipers and a lug wrench obviously if the car has wheels on it. what else would I need? brake fitting wrench?

I may snag the calipers if they appear to be in good shape, should I take the soft brake lines?

what do I need to get the axles out of a ranger/aerostar? which side do I take?

thanks guys

If it were me, I'd save myself the hassle of trying to muscle everything off. Pay the extra bit and have them take it apart, if they offer that.

Unless you have a portable torch setup to heat up the guaranteed-to-be-stuck bolts, go for it.

5lb sledge helps too!, and take a lug wrench with you, and inspect everything before you drag a tool box back there to do it all....

You will need a 15/16 wrench for the ball joint nut. They are a PITA to break loose so be ready to hold the spindle while you try and break it loose.

Yes take the soft lines too. I believe it was either a 10mm or a 5/16 for the lines. I usually take an aray of wrenches just in case.

I just bring my 145pc Craftsman tool kit when ever I go to the yard and it always has everything i need. i also use the same kit for my car. its rare that i need something outside the kit (like specialty tools). it was like $180 or something at sears and well worth the investment.
