Which Intake Manifold?????

if it were me i would use that. since you got the lower ported it should have removed the restrictions that lower had compared to the upper. just go to the junk yard and pull the upper off of an explorer. clean it up and you will save a ton of $$.
a few min with a wire wheel on a drill and some engine primer/paint and it will look new.
that will hold you over until you save up cash for new heads
or buy a smaller pulley

thats a great idea! never thought about doing that. I found a Jegs Max Box manifold for $170 and it matches with the gt-40. im tryin to do this whole thing as cheaply as possible.

lol yea a box upper will be good while under boost but im not sure about while just cruising w/o boost..
the explorer upper from the yard will prob cost you like $20 lol
i sold my explorer upper and lower after i cleaned them both and painted them for $150 but a scrubby one from the yard will be cheap cheap
for reference i didnt notice much of a difference between my unported explorer upper and lower and the TFS Street Heat I had on before i switched to the Track Heat

I'm running 6 psi. I intend to eventually add AFR heads when i can get the money to do it.
I have an old cobra(gt-40) lower manifold that i got ported awhile ago when i was thinking of putting a keene bell super on my 92. would it be worth it to buy the upper and just using that??

lol yea my h/c/i including gaskets and everything (still using the explorer intake) cost me about $1200 and i did all the work. i bought most everything used. so it was not expensive really. and it will run 12s on this setup soon. came close (sig)

I paid 400.00 for my eddy rpm heads, 325.00 for the custom cam and 600.00 for the intake, so for 1325.00 I figure it did okay, expecially since I had no goal in mind et wise to start..lol

oh nice.
my heads were = $600
cam was = $100
intake = technically free
gaskets = $130
injectors = $100
MAF = $100
TB & spacer = $150
timing chain = $50
for the intake i bought a 97 explorer motor for $300 or 350(dont remember) (was gonna rebuild it) then ended up keeping the intake and selling the long block for what i paid
ya i didnt have a goal in mind either just wanted to go faster for cheapish
i ended up selling the explorer for $150 and bought the TFS Track Heat for $300

I went to the junk yard this morning and picked up the upper from a 98 explorer for $22 ...... not bad.........is installing this upper any different from installing any other upper??? I installed my BBk with instructions ... since im kinda new to the whole intake thing. i still got the instructions fro that so i dont eff up. but anything i need to know???

pretty straight forward. you just may need to block off the extra vac lines the explorer intake has. and the only other thing is your lower drilled and tapped for the act sensor already?
other than that its the same.
are you still running the smog equipment?

is it extrude honed ? or ported all the way through ? or just gasket matched? and does it end in "AA" on the lower near the dizzy cutout ?
i would get a tubular gt40 for the SEXY FACTOR ALONE !!! and a calypso notch just dyno'd over 600 with a tubular gt40 so let the naysayers talk smack (look for his thread or i'll link it)
