I'm using the actual GM fluid that tremec recommends in the TR3550. Quite expensive. cost about $45. My 3550 is holding together nicely. I think you will be happy with the 3550. Try to get some miles on it nefore you go to the track. Mine sat for a few months before it went in, and it was stiff as hell for a good amount of time. Now its smooth as a babies ***, going into gears... after its warm.
good to know...cause mine has been sitting almost a year, it's fairly new, but I got it used and where did you get the fluid at??? I went to napa yesterday and all they had was Royal crap sycromesh and I really don't want to use that..
ran gm synchro mesh in my tko600 as well was around 42 a qt at the local gm dealer, but yeah they break, mine did while i was under full boost in 4th gear racing a turbo vette, 4th gear when i took it apart had about 3 teeth left on it that were intact but man i was moving around 135 when she blew right before i threw it in 5th
fortunately mine wasn't in 4th..lol but I was under full throttle and at some high rpm in second when it let go.
Racing cost $$ ! well...... it will give you something too do and sorry to hear the bad news!
it's actually good news from my prespective...given when and how it blew up, there is no way it'd of held if I had been spraying and I'd been upset if it was at the track at one of our private drag day meets cause here in october , i'm goona shoot for a new personal best, so I'd like to have the car in top forum, the tranny I've known has been the weak link so now I have a reason to put in the tremec
