Default Cam selection for new engine.

Hey fellas, new to this site and i need some advice. I am building a '65 Mustang, I bought a '91 5.0 and T-5 out of a GT. I have had the block bored to a 306, hyperutectic pistons (9.5:1 comp) heads have been pocket ported and larger valves, and bigger springs installed, planning on a Weiand stealth intake and a Holley 600. I'm running long tube Hedman headers, 2.5" exhaust and dynomax mufflers. Will probably end up running a 3.27 - 3:55 ring gear to keep decent hiway manners.I plan on useing this car for a DD, and weekend fun, also want it to be able to make a long road trip if I choose to. What I need help with is picking a cam. I want something that is streetable and not a dog on the bottom end but still comes alive when you stomp on it. From what I've read the Motorsport cams are outdated and not that desireable. I've looked at comp cams magnum 281 and extreme energy 266 but alot of this greek to me. Any opinions, especially those founded from experience rather than "i heard this and my buddy said this works" would be appreciated. This is my first shot at building a Mustang or street car, I've been into building offroad trucks for a while so i'm trying to "tune" my thinking a bit now. Thanks again. -Eveready77

If its a stock head stay around a .500 lift, wont help going any bigger. there are plenty to choose from!

B-cam, E-cam, TFS stage 1, thats about all you would need!

stock HO cam and leave it alone until you start really modding the motor like with different cylinder heads

Personally I would just go with a b cam, mabye the trick flow, like pro said, you've got a nice mild setup no reason to go after a big cam, if you want more attitude than the stock 5.0 b or e cam

I'm with protrickvic. The stock HO cam is your best bet. No letter cam!! I had an E303 once and it sucked.

If you want a cam, get a custom grind. Otherwise stock, or a basic ots cam.

i wish they offered that head with a smaller chamber to bump up the C R a bit.

or even better offer it in a top end kit, with the TFS 2 cam and a 75mm TFS R series manifold...
