1990 lx
recently bought a 90 lx, it is a 306 with forged internals, gt40 intake, ported stock heads, bbk shorty headers with off-road x, flowmaster mufflers, 3'' aluminum radiator, 3.73 gear, and 5 spd transmission. the car seems to have an aftermarket cam, but i'm not sure, it has a little lope to it, but nothing like a b or e cam. i have never heard a f cam, so i wouldnt know what it sounds like. i have had a 92 lx 5.0, 95 cobra, and a 2000 gt, but its been 8 years since my last one, i got this car for $3600, it has a straight body and runs really really strong, first and second gear will not hook at all, it does need a paint job. when i purchased the car it was like i got a small piece of my soul back, gotta love those fox bodies.
ur right, i forgot to put the question in there, the valve seals need to be replaced and was thinking about swappin out the heads, what would be a good set of heads, obviously AFR would be great but i'm not in the posistion to drop that much cash into a set of heads.
+1
find some used aluminum heads or get a set of iron gt40's for $300 (NOT P's tho)
have the intakes smoothed out, port the exhaust, remove the bump and do a good multi-angle valve job. you'll have about $600 tied up and be capable of going 12's on motor with a box stock gt40 tubular. my buddy went 11.80's like that on a 92 gt and 125 shot. it works trust me. iron 40's can be worked nicely, the stock e7's you have probably arent getting you more than 10 or so over stock. big bottleneck.
i'd also go 4.10 over the 3.73, they just are not enuff on a good tire like an et street
